SO CAL FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTIONS RANKINGS

SAN DIEGO TOP 20

1. Carlsbad Loud Crowd

When our own Carlos Arias went down to cover the Mission Hills-Carlsbad game, he had nothing but great things to say about the Loud Crowd. The crazy cheers, the dancing and the noise. Sometimes when a team is having a tough night in a lopsided loss, you can understand when a student section quiets down, but the Loud Crowd was still going nuts. Many have said on social media that the Loud Crowd is the best student section in So Cal. That might be true. Let the Purple Reign, the Loud Crowd of Carlsbad is the So Cal Sidelines’ San Diego Student Section of the Year for the 2017 football season.

2. Helix of La Mesa Dawghouse

This might be one of the most savage student sections in So Cal. The Dawghouse has enjoyed another huge season from the Scotties. The Dawghouse is always ready for a battle and lets others know who is the better team and the better student section.

3. St. Augustine of San Diego Saints Pit

The Pit is a crazy group of kids and have battled in the stands with the best of the them. Loud and crazy, The Pit backed up what they said and have enjoyed another big year from their Saints.

4. Mission Hills of San Marcos Growl Crowd

The Growl Crowd is currently enjoying one of the best QB/WR combos this season with Utah-committed QB Jack Tuttle throwing to WR Chris Olave. The Grizzlies are favorites to win the CIF-SDS Open Division title after staying undefeated and the Growl Crowd is loving every minute of it.

5. San Marcos Blue Crew

The Blue Crew is always filling up the stands and getting crazy loud. It’s a very unique group that arrives in odd outfits, but the crazier the better and the Blue Crew rocked it for the Knights, who are in the CIF-SDS Open Division semifinals.

6. Cathedral Catholic of San Diego Los Locos

With a name like Los Locos, you have to be crazy, and Cathedral Catholic’s Los Locos didn’t disappoint. They have been filling up the seats in support of their Dons, who lost a ton of players to graduation and injuried, but still made the CIF-SDS quarterfinals.

7. Torrey Pines of San Diego Chaos

The Chaos caused a ruckus this season, especially against top-ranked Mission Hills of San Marcos where the Falcons fell a point short. You know the Chaos played a factor and now they will be asked to play a big role this Friday against the Growl Crowd in the CIF-SDS Open Division semifinals. Pretty tough task for this wild bunch, but they’re up for it.

8. Eastlake of Chula Vista Titan Army

The Titan Army was the So Cal Student Section of the Week nominee several times this season and for good reason. They fill up the stands and get rowdy for their Titans, who are a game away from the CIF-SDS Open Division Finals. Not only does Eastlake have a tough matchup against Carlsbad, but Titan Army will be facing the Loud Crowd. Bring ear plugs, because it’s going to get loud!

9. Westview of San Diego Blackhole

Beware of the Blackhole. They have had a great season and so has the football team. The Blackhole knows how to throw a party in the stands, which is filled to the brim for every home game.

10. El Camino of Oceanside Prowl Crowd

I saw the Prowl Crowd against La Costa Canyon and they made some noise and brought along some dance moves. When you have a running back named Chris Brown, you better dance.

11. La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad Stampede

The Stampede always brings it year in and year out. They may have had a hard time keeping pace with speedster Karson Lippert this season.

12. Madison of San Diego Warhawks

You have to have a solid student section if you’re called the Warhawks. Good thing this student section can back up that tough name. These Warhawks cheered on and enjoyed another big season from Madison.

13. Grossmont of El Cajon Foothillers

What impressed me about the Foothillers is that they stayed loud against Helix despite the lopsided score. They could have either sat and watched or left and no one would have judged them, but the Foothillers didn’t give up. They kept cheering. Kudos!

14. Ramona Bulldogs

The Bulldogs are undefeated and when you win, you’re student sections starts to grow. The more the merrier and the Bulldogs’ student section filled the stands more than ever.

15. Rancho Bernardo of San Diego Stampede

The Stampede showed up when needed and it may have helped a young Broncos team reach the playoffs. I’m sure the Stampede enjoyed the five-game winning streak from the Broncos.

16. La Jolla Country Day The Jungle

Welcome to the Jungle, they have fun and games. They really do! The Jungle brought the noise and the funk after last season’s Torreys made it to the state finals.

17. Olympian of Chula Vista Eagles

The Eagles soared to the CIF-SDS quarterfinals and their student section stood by them with loud cheers and support.

18. Mt. Carmel of San Diego Red Sea

If the Red Sea doesn’t part the sea, then maybe they shouldn’t be here. Well, they have and perhaps the reward was a playoff appearance by the Sundevils.

19. Coronado Tiki Squad

The Tiki Squad are good sports and like the student section above them were treated with a playoff appearance by the Islanders.

20. Patrick Henry of San Diego Hooligans

Those crazy Hooligans know how to throw a party in the stands and have rocked their way to the postseason.
