Foothill’s Sydney Sharp has developed into one of the top scorers in the county and the 5-10 senior had another big week last week to help the Knights.

Sharp averaged 21.7 points per game and made 11 3-pointers in three games to earn OC Sidelines Player of the Week honors.

“Sydney’s been the ideal team leader,” Knights coach Vince Namba said. “In addition to her scoring, she’s been the anchor of our defense & a leader by example.”

Foothill is 12-4 and ranked No. 7 in the county thanks to Sharp’s play.

“Sydney is without a doubt the key to our success,” Sharp’s teammate Cameron Mallory said. “She encourages all of us to contribute, and always is the one to come through when we need points, big rebounds, or a key block on defense.”

Best play you ever made: Freshman year when we beat Brea on TV and I scored 17 points and was interviewed for player of the game.

Opposing player you respect the most: (Arizona State-bound) Reili Richardson (of Brea Olinda) because she challenges me to push myself.

Favorite teammate: All of them; they all push me, encourage me, and are there for me in their own ways.

Favorite coach: Karina Figueroa because she always pushes me to do my best and challenges me.

Favorite movie ever: Harry Potter series because it’s a great storyline and will never get old.

Favorite song ever: Lose Yourself by Eminem because it always gets me pumped.

Favorite TV show ever: The Blacklist because each episode is better than the last.

Any final pearls of wisdom? Always play like the games on the line.
