Softball: So Cal Roundup (4/13/17) Wolverines Pull Out Win in 13 Innings

Caldwell-bound Paige Sandoval drove in Wessley-bound Gen Brittingham with a walk-off double in the bottom of the 13th to lead Aliso Niguel of Aliso Viejo to a 2-1 victory over San Clemente in a South Coast League game on Thursday at Aliso Niguel High.

After battling to a 0-0 draw for 11 innings, Grace Krantz drove in Sidney Giles with a one-out single in the top of the 12th to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead.

The Wolverines came back and tied it, 1-1, when Danielle Mandichak, who went 4 for 5, drove in Lindsay Altfillisch with a two-out double in the bottom of the 12th.

BYU-commit Carley Brown went the distance, scattering 14 hits, walking two and striking out six in 13 innings to get the complete game win for the Wolverines (11-7, 1-2).

Giles and Chloe Visca both went 3 for 6 for San Clemente (8-7, 0-2).

Norco 10, King of Riverside 2: Cal State Fullerton-bound Taylor Dockins picked up her 97th career win to lead the Cougars (22-0, 2-0), ranked No. 1 in the IE and No. 1 in So Cal, past the Wolves (9-9, 0-2), ranked No. 20 in the IE, in the Big VIII League.

Los Alamitos 10, Fountain Valley 0: Ohio-bound Allison Englant went 3 for 3, Iowa State-bound Andrea Gonzalez went 2 for 2 with two doubles, Oklahoma-bound Alexa Schultz went 2 for 2 with a double and a homer and Maryland-bound Ryan Denhart recorded the shutout to lead the Griffins (18-3, 4-0), ranked No. 1 in the OC and No. 2 in So Cal, to a Sunset League victory.

Gahr of Cerritos 9, Downey 2: Jazmine Hill went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three runs, Washington-commit Madison Huskey went 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs and four RBI and UCLA-bound Malia Quarles, South Carolina-bound Alyssa Kumiyama and Johanna Rodriguez all homered to lift the Gladiators (17-0, 3-0), ranked No. 1 in LA and No. 7 in So Cal, over the Vikings (9-11, 2-2) in a San Gabriel Valley League victory.

Santiago of Corona 4, Centennial of Corona 1: Hanna Delgado and Madison Hamilton homered and Shelby Macias allowed five hits, no earned runs and struck out 11 to help the Sharks (16-4, 2-0), ranked No. 3 in the IE and No. 12 in So Cal, beat the Huskies (13-8, 1-1) in the Big VIII League.

La Habra 14, Sonora of La Habra 2: Utah-bound Alyssa Palacios went 3 for 3 with a double, Savannah Tourville went 2 for 3 with a double, Frankie Valencia went 2 for 2 with a triple, Cal State Fullerton-bound Janelle Rodriguez went 2 for 4, Cal State Northridge-bound Kira Cauley hit a three-run homer and Cal State Fullerton-bound Hannah Johnson struck out seven for the Highlanders (13-6, 2-0) in a Freeway League win over the Raiders (8-11, 1-1).

Simi Valley 14, Elisnore of Wildomar 0: Alexandra Carabello went 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBI, Katelyn Hanson homered and Gabbie Siciliano threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts in five innings as the Pioneers (11-1), ranked No. 4 in LA and No. 15 in So Cal, picked up a win at the Diamond Bar Tournament.

Huntington Beach 10, Newport Harbor of Newport Beach 0: Morgan MacBeath threw a one-hitter with six strikeouts, Arizona-bound Ivy Davis hit a two-run homer and Oregon-commit Allee Bunker went 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBI for the Oilers(10-7, 4-1), ranked No. 5 in the OC and No. 17 in So Cal, in a Sunset League victory.

Patrick Henry of San Diego 5, Scripps Ranch of San Diego 4: Ohio State-bound Madison James went 2 for 5 with two home runs and five RBI for the Patriots (15-5, 2-0), ranked No. 4 in San Diego, in a Western League win over the Falcons (8-8, 0-2), ranked No. 13 in San Diego.

Valencia of Magic Mountain 2, West Ranch of Valencia 0: The Vikings (14-7, 2-0), ranked No. 7 in LA, shut out the Wildcats (7-11, 0-2) in the Foothill League.

Yucaipa 11, Carter of Rialto 1: LMU-bound Megan Martin went 3 for 4 with a double, a run and two RBI and Stanford-commit Sydnee Huff went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three runs for the Thunderbirds (12-8, 4-1), ranked No. 6 in the IE, in a Citrus Belt League win over the Lions (4-10, 1-5).

Capistrano Valley of Mission Viejo 9, Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita 3: Arizona-commit Giulia Koutsoyanopulos went 3 for 4 with a double, a triple, two runs and three RBI for the Cougars (13-7), ranked No. 8 in the OC, in a nonleague win over the Titans (8-12).

San Pedro 4, Redlands East Valley 0: Andrea Cline went 3 for 3 with a solo homer, Ricki Justiniano hit a three-run shot and Cindy Robles tossed a two-hitter with seven strikeouts in five innings as the Pirates (14-7-1), ranked No. 11 in LA, beat the Wildcats (6-7) at the Las Vegas Spring Jamboree.

Canyon of Anaheim 8, Cypress 1: Rylie Seip went 3 for 4 with two RBI, Rachel Owens went 1 for 4 with a double and two RBI and Alyssa McMahan went 2 for 4 with two runs and an RBI as the Comanches (12-8), ranked No. 11 in the OC, defeated the Centurions (10-11), ranked No. 18 in the OC, in a nonleague game.

La Mirada 13, Artesia of Lakewood 3: Jessica Martinez had two doubles and Madison Bogdanovich and Kayliah Birdsong homered to help the Matadores (18-5-1, 7-0), ranked No. 9 in LA, pick up a Suburban League win to run their winning streak to 10 games.

Ayala of Chino Hills 5, Claremont 0: Katelyn Williams threw a six-hit shutout with two strikeouts to help the Bulldogs (15-6, 4-3), ranked No. 10 in the IE, beat the Wolfpack (5-7, 3-5) in the Palomares League.

Foothill of Santa Ana 9, Montebello 2: Alyssa Brito went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple, a run and three RBI and Mississippi State-bound Brooke Cantillo hit a two-run homer for the Knights (9-9), ranked No. 14 in the OC, in a win at the Diamond Bar Tournament.

South Torrance 4, Carson 3: Chaminade-bound Maddy Stockslager allowed no earned runs and struck out seven and Kayla Averill went 2 for 3 with a homer as the Spartans (12-4-1), ranked No. 14 in LA, knocked off the Colts (12-7) at the Las Vegas Spring Jamboree.

Roosevelt of Eastvale 9, Corona 3: Long Beach State-commit Maddy Ruffin went 4 for 4 with two doubles, a homer and five RBI to lead the Mustangs (9-9, 1-1) to a Big VIII League victory.

Banning of Wilmington 6, Bell 5: Sarahy Martinez ent 3 for 4 with two doubles, two runs and two RBI as the Pilots (15-4), ranked No. 15 in LA, held on to beat the Eagles (9-11) at the Las Vegas Spring Jamboree.

Don Lugo of Chino 18, Colony of Ontario 0: Emily Sevilla went 4 for 5 with a double, a homer, three runs and seven RBI as the Conquistadores (10-6, 4-2), ranked No. 15 in the IE, avenged Tuesday’s loss with a win over the Titans (10-5, 3-4) in the Mt. Baldy League.

Cerritos 5, Norwalk 4: Elise Gibbs went 2 for 3 and drove in the go-ahead run in teh top of the sixth to lift the Dons (11-3, 5-1), ranked No. 17 in LA, over the Lancers (5-13, 2-4) in the Suburban League.

Templeton 1, Morro Bay 0: Texas A&M-commit Ashley Daugherty tossed a no-hitter with one walk and 16 strikeout sto lift the Eagles (11-1, 7-1) over the Pirates (4-11, 1-7) in the Los Padres League. It was Daugherty’s second consecutive no-hitter.

Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth 16, Campbell Hall of North Hollywood 0: Alyssa Nunez threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and Janae Weise went 3 for 5 with a double, two homers and five RBI to lead the Trailblazers (12-4-1, 6-1) to a Gold Coast League win.

Fullerton 11, Buena Park 0: Alexia Silvas went 2 for 3 with a double, a homer, two runs and two RBI and she combined with Kloee Scott on a two-hit shutout to lead the Indians (9-9, 1-1) in a Freeway League win.
