One of the big catalysts behind Buena of Ventura’s 12-game winning streak has been Siena College-bound Kiara Delgado.

In a rematch of last year’s CIF-SS Division 4 title game, the senior third baseman/outfielder went 4 for 6 with two runs to help the Bulldogs beat San Marcos of Santa Barbara, 5-2 and 6-0, to clinch at least a share of the Channel League title.

On Saturday, Delgado went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBI in Buena’s 3-0 upset over Camarillo in the semifinals of the Thousand Oaks Tournament.

She finished off the week by going 2 for 4 with a homer, two runs, two RBI and she delivered the walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth as the Bulldogs defeated Newbury Park, 5-4, in the championship game of the Thousand Oaks Tournament. It was the second straight year Buena had won the tournament title.

Delgado’s efforts earned her So Cal Player of the Week honors from So Cal Sidelines.
